Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on Jan. 19. 1946 to a poor family with 12 kids later on, realized early that she could get away from the hardships of her life by using a imaginative mind. Prior to learning how to read or write Dolly Parton was composing her own songs. Once she had her first instrument at age of eight, she started to play on local radio stations from Knoxville, Tennessee. Gold Band Records is a tiny, independent label. Although she was studying, she already made a name of herself on the local scene. However, her goal was to to play on a bigger level. On the 14th of March, 1964, that followed her graduation from high school the singer moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were the first two albums to chart on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner's syndicated tv show was in need of an additional singer around this time. Parton was a part of the Grand Ole Opry 1969 after having signed with RCA Records. However, it wasn't until 1974 when she made the decision to quit Wagoner's show because the success of her solo albums like Joshua Coat, Many Colors and Jolene had outstripped their collaborative efforts. Parton wrote "I I Will Never Forget You" in support of Wagoner just after the pair split. The song hit No. For the first time, in 1974.
